Our Story

Mountain Pools’ founder, Howard, was attracted to the area’s famous music scene and moved to Woodstock. In 1976, he began cleaning pools, which is how Mountain Pools got its start.

From these simple beginnings Mountain Pools grew into a full-service pool company with maintenance techs, service techs, a construction crew, and office staff. After 45 years Howard was ready to retire, and sought someone new to take over.

After leading track maintenance and construction crews for the NYC Subway, Peter started looking for a business to buy. Peter knew the area from childhood weekends in Monticello and volunteering aboard the sloop Clearwater, and was eager to return. In 2021 Peter and Howard met, and later that year Peter bought the business.

Since taking over, Peter has worked to make Mountain Pools even better! Changes include a renewed focus on customer service, new resources for our techs, online account management, and appointment pics.

Mountain Pools is poised to start its 50th year as a business and its 5th year under new leadership. At Mountain Pools we’re professional, we care, and we’re here to help!
